LORI G.COHEN is a partner with Greenberg Traurig, LLP, an international law firm with over 1,800 attorneys, including over 500 litigators.  She is the Chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Pharmaceutical, Medical Device & Health Care Litigation Practice Group of more than 60 attorneys.  She has a national litigation practice focusing on products liability litigation and specifically, medical device and pharmaceutical litigation. Lori is national counsel for a medical device manufacturer handling its litigation, including class actions and a multidistrict litigation. She has served as both national counsel and regional counsel for pharmaceutical and medical device companies and has expertise in mass tort, multidistrict and class action litigation. She also has vast experience in other products liability litigation and jury trials of all kinds. Lori has defended numerous health care providers, including physicians, hospitals and managed care entities, on a nationwide basis.  Ms. Cohen has tried 50 cases, all to defense verdicts. During the last year, she obtained defense verdicts as a result of a three month, $78 million dollar trial against the world’s leading manufacturer of pacemakers and as a result of a three week, medical malpractice trial in which she represented OB/GYN clients.  Lori was recently featured in The National Law Journal’s “Winning-Successful Strategies From Some of the Nation’s Top Litigators,” a special report recognizing ten attorneys across the U.S.   She has been recognized by The National Law Journal as one of “The 50 Most Influential Women Lawyers in America.”  The National Law Journal has recognized two of her defense trial victories as “Top Defense Wins” in recent years, and she has been featured in The National Law Journal's “40 Under 40” article, which highlights the most successful 40 litigators under the age of 40 in the country. She is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, The Outstanding Lawyers in America and Georgia Super Lawyers each year, including the “Top 100 Super Lawyers” and “Top 50 Female Super Lawyers” for Georgia for 2005-2008.  Most recently, she was recognized as one of Georgia Trend’s “Legal Elite” for 2008.  Lori is highlighted for having a reputation for "using creative approaches to explain to lay jurors complex evidence.”   In addition to her vast trial experience, Ms. Cohen has significant Daubert and scientific expertise, with a number of her victories captured in published opinions. Lori has worked extensively on and lectured nationally regarding the use of technology in courtroom presentations of complex medical, scientific and other catastrophic injury cases.  Ms. Cohen is active in national organizations in her specialty, including the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Product Liability Advisory Council, the Defense Research Institute and the American Bar Association. She is the Co-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Pharmaceutical and Health Law Subcommittee of the Class Action Committee.  She lectures nationally and is an instructor at the National Institute of Trial Advocacy and Emory University's Trial Techniques Program. She is also an editor for three national publications (Medical Malpractice Law and Strategy, Product Liability Law and Strategy, and Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Law Bulletin) and has authored numerous articles in the areas of products liability, medical malpractice, medical device and pharmaceutical litigation.  Ms. Cohen received her B.A., cum laude, in 1987 from Duke University and her J.D., with distinction, in 1990 from Emory University School of Law.
